High-thermal-conductivity aluminum alloys for additive manufacturing are gaining traction across high-tech sectors by combining superior material properties with design freedom—particularly in applications demanding efficient heat dissipation, lightweight construction, and complex geometries. In 2025, BLT independently developed BLT-AlAM300C, a high-thermal-conductivity aluminum alloy that breaks through the limitations of conventional additively manufactured aluminum materials. With a thermal conductivity approximately 25% higher than that of standard additively manufactured aluminum alloys, BLT-AlAM300C effectively addresses the needs of demanding thermal management scenarios.
Following the release of BLT-AlAM300C in 2025, BLT has now introduced two new high-thermal-conductivity aluminum alloys—BLT-AlAM100C and BLT-AlAM370C. Both are proprietary BLT materials developed specifically for the PBF-LB/M process and are well-suited for high-heat-exchange applications in aerospace, automotive, tooling, consumer electronics, and other industries where thermal performance is critical.
BLT-AlAM100C is a functional high-thermal-conductivity aluminum alloy. After heat treatment, it delivers a tensile strength of 140 MPa, yield strength of 100 MPa, elongation of 20%, and thermal conductivity of 240 W/(m·K). It is ideal for applications with low strength requirements but high heat-exchange demands.
BLT-AlAM300C is a medium-strength high-thermal-conductivity aluminum alloy. It is heat-treatable, and after heat treatment achieves a tensile strength of 300 MPa, yield strength of 275 MPa, elongation of 10%, and thermal conductivity of 190 W/(m·K). This alloy is suited for medium-strength, high-heat-exchange applications and also supports natural-color anodizing.
BLT-AlAM370C is a medium-to-high-strength high-thermal-conductivity aluminum alloy. After heat treatment, it reaches a tensile strength of 380 MPa, yield strength of 350 MPa, elongation of 12%, and thermal conductivity of 196 W/(m·K). It is designed for applications that require a balance of elevated strength and high thermal exchange performance.
The chart compares the thermal conductivity of the three materials, based on measured average values from sample testing (not material acceptance criteria).
Multiple application cases featuring BLT-AlAM300C and other formable materials are now on display at TCT Asia 2026. Visit BLT’s booth to explore the full spectrum of additive manufacturing material options!
